With the release for Oracle 11g R2 and SQL Developer 3 we now have a new Oracle Data Miner (ODM) tool. Oracle Data Miner is an extension of SQL Developer and allows data analysts to work directly with the data in the database. The ODM tool allows us to develop data mining workflows to create data mining models and to apply these models to new data. In addition to the ODM tool there are a number of functions and packages available to use in SQL and PL/SQL. These allow us to perform our data mining tasks against our data in bulk, against individual records or on data as it is being captured in our applications.
This master class will provide data analysts, IT managers, and developers and in-depth knowledge of how to use the Oracle Database, the ODM tool, the data mining functionality available in the database and the SQL & PL/SQL functions. The master class will include some of the theoretical aspects behind each of the data mining techniques, as well as a demonstration of each technique and some hands on exercises. The demonstrations will include examples of how to use the ODM tool and how to use the SQL and PL/SQL functions to perform the same tasks.
